National Exit Test (NExT) requirements would only apply to the 2020 MBBS class, according to Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, who made the announcement on Thursday. After laying the cornerstone for a critical care facility there, Mandaviya was interacting with students at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur. According to the Union Minister, neither the National Medical Commission (NMC) nor the Centre will make any decisions that could cause confusion among students.

The National Exit Test will function as a common qualifying final-year MBBS exam, a license exam to practice modern medicine, a license exam for merit-based admission to postgraduate programs and a screening exam for foreign medical graduates who want to practice in India, according to the most recent NMC guidelines.
