IIT-Jodhpur Invites Applications for PG Admissions; Selection Based on GATE, JAM Scores

For the academic year 2024–2025, the Indian Institute of Technology–Jodhpur has opened applications for its MTech and PhD programs. The GATE and JAM scores are used to make the selection. Notably, compared to prior years, the opening and closing GATE scores of chosen candidates across all categories and programs increased significantly last year, demonstrating the Institute’s dedication to academic excellence.

For all M Tech programs, the deadline for applications is April 20. The institute’s website, http://www.iitj.ac.in, has information about its various programmes.

MTech programs are available at IIT Jodhpur in a number of fields, including materials engineering, bioscience and bioengineering, robotics and mobility systems, artificial intelligence, cyberphysical systems, sensors and the internet of things, and more.

“In the past couple of years, we have developed some of the finest curriculum for postgraduate studies, which will equip our students with cutting-edge research exposure and provide a sound academic background for future development of the country,” stated Dr. Soumava Mukherjee, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jodhpur.

“Like the previous year, the institute is participating in the centralised admission procedure through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for offering admission to the candidates,” stated Prof. Prakash Tiwari, chairman of the admission committee (UG & PG), IIT Jodhpur. There will be ten rounds of offers in total, with the first round being released in the second week of May.

A vibrant student community, world-class faculty, and an outstanding research infrastructure are all features of IIT Jodhpur. The institute’s committed faculty and bright student researchers have published in prominent journals and conferences, significantly advancing the global scientific community.

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria:

— The candidate must hold a master’s degree in a related field or a bachelor’s degree in science, MCA, pharmacy, medical sciences, agricultural sciences, or veterinary sciences (4-year program).

— He or she has achieved a minimum CGPA of 6.0 for the GEN/OBC category (5.5 for the SC/ST/PD category) on a scale of 10, or a minimum aggregate score of 60% for the GEN/OBC category (55% for the SC/ST/PD category), as determined by the university or institute. Candidates from the CFTI with CGPA/CPI ratios greater than 8 may receive priority consideration.

— Full-time regular candidates for fellowships or assistantships: The candidate must either have a valid GATE score, be exempt from the GATE in accordance with the circular from the Education Ministry, have passed an equivalent national examination, or have performed well on the written and/or interview portions of the IIT Jodhpur exam.

Part-time/External/Employer/Part-time (online) Sponsored applicants must pass the written exam and/or interview held by IIT Jodhpur and have at least two years of work experience (after obtaining a qualifying degree) in industry, R&D labs, or academic institutions at the time of registration.

Other programs offered include M.Sc. programs in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Digital Humanities, and Computational Social Science; M.Sc.-M.Tech. programs in Data and Computational Sciences, Physics, and Materials Engineering; M.S. by research in fields such as Brain Science; Master of Design (MDes) that focuses on the intersection of design, technology, and innovation; and Master of Medical Technologies (Masters and Masters-Ph.D.) programs.

Additionally, IIT Jodhpur worked with foreign universities such as the University of Buffalo in the United States and the University of Albany in the United States to provide PhD students with exchange opportunities and joint degree programs. Global perspectives and research experiences are enhanced by these collaborations.
