For overseas students, the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom is giving the £7,500 Professor David Locker Scholarship. The scholarship is intended for students pursuing a master’s degree in dental public health (MDPH) at Sheffield University who have a background in social science or dentistry.

Interested students can apply for this scholarship at this link — finance.ssid.shef.ac.uk/apply/2024-professor-david-locker-scholarship

Eligibility

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must

  • Have an offer to study MDPH Public Health starting in September 2024
  • Be made an unconditional offer to study at the University before 2 September 2024
  • Not be funded by a research council, government, private enterprise, charity or any similar organisation.
  • Not have already studied outside of your home country
  •  Be an overseas fee-paying student from a low or middle-income country (see terms and conditions)

Due to the competitive nature of the procedure, only the most compelling application will be chosen by a panel of senior staff members. The panel will pay close attention to whether applicants have:

  • An excellent academic record
  •  Provided a clear rationale for applying for a postgraduate course at the University of Sheffield
  • Outlined challenges to academic and professional progress and detailed how these barriers have been overcome successfully
  • Outlined examples of relevant work experience, including community and voluntary work
  • Clearly articulated future ambitions; these goals relate to the postgraduate degree applicants have applied for, and how their earning will benefit others from your country or region.

It is important for students to understand that the scholarship is non-transferable, and those who take a leave of absence will not be eligible to earn the prize upon their return to school. Since there is no viable cash alternative, the winning applicant will receive their award as a donation to their tuition fees.

The scholarship will only be awarded if the applicant is granted a valid student visa for September 2024. You are required to be present full-time. Recipients of scholarships are not qualified to apply for or be awarded any other university scholarships to prospective students.
