IGNOU Launches Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH)
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)’s Discipline of Psychology, School of Social Sciences (SOSS), offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health. This curriculum is meant to give students a solid foundation in the subject of mental health. The PGDMH seeks to prepare graduates to meet the growing need for mental health services by delving deeply into a wide range of psychological disorders and concerns.
Eligibility
Candidates with a master’s degree in psychology, social work, or nursing, or medical graduates (allopathy, ayurveda, unani, siddha, homeopathy, yoga, and naturopathy), or a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery (BDS), are eligible to apply for the IGNOU PG certificate in Mental Health course.
Admission
Eligible candidates can take admission twice a year in July and January
Course fees
Candidates are required to pay Rs 9000 as course fees plus registration fees of Rs 300.

The duration for the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH) is one year.
Highlights
The initiative aims to build individual capacity by training professionals in mental and physical healthcare to better meet the community’s mental health needs. Candidates will have access to open, flexible learning opportunities, and the remote learning style will allow students to study at their own speed.
The course is designed to cover a wide range of mental health topics, including fundamentals, disorders, special areas, services, and an internship.
There are various regional study centers, including two in Bangalore, Bhopal, and Nagpur, as well as one in Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Ranchi, Noida, Jabalpur, Varanasi and Patna.
