IIT Roorkee Scholarships for UG, PG Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT R) provides scholarships to worthy and deserving students every year. Some scholarships come in the form of college fee concessions, others come as direct benefit transfers to the students’ bank accounts. Scholarships provided by IIT Roorkee are merit cum means, James Thomason, INSPIRE SHE, Dr S.K. Goel and Kusum Goel Scholarship to disadvantaged students pursuing Engineering education and Sharman Foundation.

Ten engineering and architectural bachelor’s degree programs are available at IIT Roorkee, while 55 engineering, applied science, architecture, and planning master’s degree programs are available.

List of scholarship and eligibility

  1. Merit Cum Means scholarship: A UG student who qualifies for the Merit Cum Means (MCM) program receives a reimbursement of the remaining tuition plus a minimum of Rs 1,000 per month for ten months during the academic year. A minimum of Rs. 1000 is awarded to an M.Sc. student each month for ten months of the academic year. It is only accessible for the program’s regular runtime. It is only accessible for dual degree programs through the fourth year. Additionally, it receives up to 25% of the class’s true strength.In order to receive MCM, a student must meet the requirements listed below:

The applicant falls within the OBC, General, or General (EWS) categories.

– The applicant is enrolled in JAM or JEE Advanced-admitted MSc or BTech, BArch, integrated dual degree (IDD), integrated master of technology (IMT), integrated master of science (IMS), and BS-MS programs.

– During the current assessment year, the combined gross income of the parents (father and mother or guardian) does not exceed Rs 5 lakh.

– Both the yearly and cumulative grade point averages (CGPA and YGPA) must be 7.00 or higher (not applicable for new students).

– Every registered course has been completed (new students only).

–  The pupil has not been disciplined or subjected to unjust methods.

  •  James Thomason scholarship:

In order to receive JT, a student must meet the requirements listed below:

The candidate was admitted through JEE (Advanced) to the B.Tech., B.Arch., Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), and BS-MS programs. The candidate’s All India Rank (AIR) in the most recent JEE (Advanced) was up to 250.

  • The Inspire She scholarship: This scholarship is offered to pursue undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) studies under the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program, which is sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology (DST). It is awarded based on the results of the Class 12th standard examination (top 1%) of the relevant Boards or within an eligible rank in a select few competitive examinations like JEE (main), JEE (Advanced), NEET (AIPMT), KVPY, and gaining admission in the science stream (any science courses or their combinations out of the 18 identified subjects) in any accredited college, university, or academic institution in the nation.

To renew INSPIRE-SHE, a student is expected to fulfil the following conditions:

– The applicant is a student of Integrated M.Sc. programmes (II to V year) from the Department of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics
– The Gross Income of parents (Father and Mother or Guardian) during the current assessment year is not more than Rs 5 lakhs.
– The applicant has availed of the INSPIRE SHE in the previous year(s).

To renew INSPIRE-SHE, a student is expected to fulfil the following conditions:

– first-year students of BS-MS and M.Sc./Int.M.Sc. programmes from the Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics Departments
– Inspire (SHE) having All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced)-2021/Joint Admission test for Masters (JAM)-2022 up to 10000.

  • Dr. S.K. Goel and Mrs. Kusum Goel Scholarship: This is to support four (04) financially constrained undergraduate students entering the Institute. The amount is Rs 2 lakh each per year. Starting from the year 2022, one new eligible student will be selected for this scholarship every year. From year 2025 onwards, there will be four awardees of this scholarship. The selected candidates will continue to get this scholarship for the normal duration of their programme (four years), provided they maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at the end of each academic year.

Eligibility:
All General and OBC category students of B.Tech., I year having their annual family income between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.

  • Scholarship for underprivileged students pursuing engineering education: Two undergraduate students who are underprivileged will be supported by this scholarship. The annual scholarship award is $1,000 per recipient in USD. As long as they maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 7.0 at the conclusion of each academic year, the chosen candidates will continue to receive this scholarship for the full four years of their program. If the female student fulfills the requirements, she will receive at least one scholarship.

Eligibility:
All General and OBC category students of B.Tech., I year taking a 2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver, but not availing of any other similar scholarship.
