University of Sheffield to offer Computer Science Scholarship worth £2,000

The University of Sheffield in the UK has launched the Computer Science Excellence Scholarship 2024, which offers up to 2,000 to international students wishing to enroll as undergraduates in the Department of Computer Science at their university.

Candidates who are accepted into the Department of Computer Science’s full-time undergraduate program in September 2024 will be given this scholarship based on their academic achievement.

Applicants do not need to apply for the scholarship because it will be given to all qualified students immediately when they start their studies in the department. The scholarship will be given to the winners in the form of a cash bursary.

Eligibility for Computer Science Excellence Scholarship 2024 

  1. Secure score equivalents or above A*A*A, with mandatory A* in mathematics
  2. Choose the University of Sheffield as per their first preference in the UCAS 2024 application process
  3. Apply for full time undergraduate programmes in computer science departments
  4. Classified as overseas students (for tuition fee reasons)
  5. Enrolled in all prerequisite subjects of their course.

Candidates will not be compensated for study abroad industry time, whether required or elective. Additionally ineligible are students engaged in university pathway programs. But if a student is getting a scholarship from somewhere other than the University of Sheffield, the total sum should make sure the applicant isn’t paying for tuition in full.

Conditions of scholarship amount 

  1. Students obtaining an overall A*A*A* in their class 12, including an A* in mathematics will be awarded a scholarship of £2,000.
  2. While candidates with a total  A*A*A score or above in class 12, including an A* in mathematics will be awarded a scholarship of £1,000.

To clarify the precise equivalent marks of A*A*A* and A*A*A grades for Indian students from various boards, students are asked to email the undergraduate admission staff of the University of Sheffield’s computer science departments at ug-compsci@sheffield.ac.uk.

According to the official website, the A*AA is equal to 90% for Indian applicants taking the Maharashtra State Board, CISCE, and CBSE exams. In a similar vein, West Bengal Board students’ A*AA is equivalent to 90%, and any other state board that achieves 91% will be equated with A*AA.

Students who receive at least 70% of the possible points following admission will be given an automatic £1,000 scholarship for every academic year starting in October 2024.
