IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with SWAYAM Plus to launch a new initiative to train engineering students with mechanical, manufacturing, and production backgrounds with industry-ready technical skills.

October 10 is the deadline for applications. The training programme will be from October 14 to 26. Registering is available to those who are interested at iitmpravartak.org.in/digital_mfg_practice.

A cost of Rs 6,000 + GST will cover the practical training component of this curriculum. A meal plan and lodging are included in the daily rate of Rs 650 per student for accommodations on the IIT Madras campus. Requests for accommodations from students must be submitted by October 10 at the latest.

This course provides a useful method for bridging the knowledge gap between engineering theory and actual manufacturing procedures. We’ll introduce and reinforce skills like basic quantification, rapid engineering drawings, back-of-the-envelope calculations, using the appropriate tools, understanding the principles of classification and taxonomy, and using a systems approach to planning and execution.

Placement assistance will be provided for students who excel in the programme. The students who are selected for the training programme to teach industry-ready skills will be chosen by Pravartak. The training course will take place on the campus of IIT Madras.

The course content includes practice in 3D modelling, 3D printing, CAM, CNC programming and CNC machining. Also, the course provides knowledge on the stages of product development, prototyping and testing.

Students will gain hands-on experience with basic manufacturing, additive manufacturing (3D Printing), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM).
