The PhD admissions procedure at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has begun. The PhD program registration website, ignouadm.samarth.edu.in, is currently operational. Candidates can apply at the aforementioned official website if they are interested in pursuing a PhD at the Open University.

Candidates may apply for PhD admission in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022, provided they have a valid UGC NET score from 2024 or a valid UGC NET with JRF. A 1000 rupee application fee is required to submit an online application.

Five per cent of the total seats will be reserved for Persons with Disabilities by IGNOU (with not less than 40 per cent disability), however, such candidates will not be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong.

According to the University Grants Commission, JRF-qualified students are accepted into the PhD program following an interview. According to the official website, those who have a valid UGC NET with JRF will be invited for interviews, which will be given full weight. The interview process for these individuals will consist of three parts: communication skills (20 percent), subject domain (40 percent), and research technique (40 percent).
