IIT Madras’ New BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Gains Popularity: JIC Report
The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) has started their new academic session and the highlight this year has been the newly-launched BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics course.
This new BTech program was introduced by IIT Madras in June and focuses on the principles of math, data science, AI and machine learning, application development, and responsible design in addition to having a distinctly multidisciplinary flavor. As the third most popular course at IIT Madras this year, the new course has taken off right away.
This year, 20323 students expressed interest in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (412L), according to the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) report 2024. The four-year Computer Science and Engineering program, which attracted 23,741 interested applicants, and Electrical Engineering, which attracted 20,350 students, were the only two courses more popular than this new BTech degree.
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (10485), Mechanical Engineering (17922), Aerospace Engineering (14165), Civil Engineering (13901), and Chemical Engineering (13841) were the courses that drew at least 10,000 students, except the three mentioned above.
