JNU Invites Applications for Admission to PhD Programmes, Apply by Dec 2
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has started the application process for admission to PhD programmes for the 2024-25 academic year. The admissions to the PhD programmes at JNU will made through NET (UGC-CSIR), JRF or GATE. Candidates can apply for the PhD programmes at jnu.ac.in. The last date to register for the PhD programmes at JNU is December 2.
In a statement announcing the opening of applications, JNU stated that before submitting an application, candidates must review the e-prospectus for PhD programs on the university website to ensure they meet all eligibility requirements, seat availability, and other details.
For admission, candidates must submit separate applications via GATE (only for engineering schools), JRF, or NET (UGC-CSIR).
A proposal to potentially shift back to in-house PhD entrance exams at JNU has hit a roadblock as university officials claim that no feedback has been received from school deans.
JNU announced a modification to its admissions selection procedure for its PhD programs this year. JNU stated that, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, it will accept NET scores starting in the current academic year rather than administering its own entrance exam. However, this strategy has been reexamined in light of the June 2024 NET’s sudden cancellation. JNU V-C Santishree D Pandit started talking about bringing back the university’s own entrance exam system on July 3.
