The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has opened the registrations for the Global Cybersecurity Hackathon, ‘Hack IITK 2024.’ The last date to register for the hackathon is January 9, 2025. Interested students can register at hackathon.iitk.ac.in.

The hackathon is open to all cybersecurity enthusiasts, including professionals, students, and prospective companies. It will be organized in a hybrid format, with the Grand Finale taking place at the IIT Kanpur campus in February 2025 and the qualification and challenge rounds taking place online.

The Hack IITK 2024 is powered by Techkriti and conceptualized by the Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Hub (C3iHub). This premier event seeks to unite global cybersecurity enthusiasts in order to address practical cybersecurity issues via competition and innovation.

Professors at IIT Kanpur created Hack IITK with the goal of encouraging creativity and entrepreneurship in professionals, students, and budding startups. Prominent cybersecurity experts from academia and business will serve on the jury panel for the event.

In order to counter serious cybersecurity risks, participants work with real-world issue statements that are specified by C3iHub specialists and create strong solutions.

According to a statement from IIT Kanpur, “Hack IITK 2024 promises a world-class competitive experience for all participants with esteemed partners like Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), Saptang Labs, NTT DATA, SecureDApps, cloud partner Amazon Web Services (AWS), and platform partners Hack2Skill and Prutor.”

“Hack IITK is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for fostering innovation, nurturing talent, and addressing real-world cybersecurity challenges,” stated Prof. Sandeep Shukla, Project Director of C3iHub. By uniting professionals, companies, and students, we hope to develop solutions that will influence cybersecurity in the future and spur business expansion.

There will be two tracks specifically for the hackathon. UG/PG college students are the target audience for the Solution Track, which focuses on Web3 Security, Cybercrime, and IT Security. With focus areas including IT security, Web 3.0 security, cybercrime, security of AI/ML, automotive security, mobile security, and privileged access management (PAM), the Startup Track is designed for prospective entrepreneurs.

The Qualification Round, Challenge Round, and Grand Finale at the IIT Kanpur campus will be the three stages of the Solution Track. Proposals and solution pitches will be made to a panel of industry experts as part of the Startup Track. Additionally, chosen firms will have the chance to receive incubation support at IIT Kanpur to commercialize their creative cybersecurity solutions.

Over Rs 30 lakhs in prize money is up for grabs at Hack IITK 2024, with victors receiving AWS Cloud Credits in addition to Rs 5 lakhs in cash.
