IGNOU Launches BA Programme in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a Bachelor of Arts programme in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BAMSME). This programme will be offered through the School of Vocational Education and Training. It seeks to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to launch and successfully manage business ventures.

Starting with the January 2025 academic year, the BAMSME program is intended to meet the changing needs of India’s youth entrepreneurs. This three-year program, which is worth 120 credits, is intended for students who have finished their 10+2 coursework. The IGNOU curriculum, which will be offered in English through open and distance learning (ODL), would provide students nationwide with flexibility and accessibility.

According to an official statement released in this respect, the program’s main objectives are to ensure profitable business operations, analyze market demand prior to starting a new endeavor, and build critical managerial, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. It also stated that the new curriculum will offer a cutting-edge, competency-based approach to entrepreneurship, equipping students to take the lead and thrive in the cutthroat business world.

 Eligibility and programme details

– Qualification: Applicants must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent.

– Medium of Instruction: English.

– Duration: The programme spans 3 years, with a validity of up to 6 years.

– Session Availability: The programme is offered in two cycles – January and July.

– Fee Structure: Rs 5,100 per year (Total fee for 3 years = Rs 15,300).
