The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the launch of a new programme on e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-mobility. The new programme will be of 18-months duration and will be starting in March 2025.

Great Learning is the EdTech partner for the ePG diploma program, which is created and taught by IIT Bombay professors. Participants will receive alumni status following a successful completion ceremony held on the IIT Bombay campus.

“The e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-mobility by the C1973 EV Power Train Lab marks a key milestone in IIT Bombay’s commitment to advanced education,” said Professor Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, at the program’s inaugural event. Our goal to promote experiential learning in domains driven by innovation is accelerated by our industry partnerships, which aid in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application.

Early and mid-career professionals, scientists and R&D specialists, entrepreneurs, academicians, and fresh graduates are the target audience for this program. With an emphasis on both conceptual and practical learning through live, interactive sessions, the curriculum will include topics like electrical drives, power electronics, battery technology, electric vehicle design, and more, according to a statement from Great Learning.

According to the statement, IIT Bombay’s academic resources will facilitate seamless learning for participants through sample projects such as vehicle sub-system modeling, embedded controller for electric motors, simulation of power electronic systems, battery modeling techniques and degradation phenomena, modeling and control of EV chargers, and impact assessment of EVs on grid infrastructure.

The program is open to candidates with a BE/BTech degree or a 4-year BSc/BS degree in a suitable engineering or technology field. Candidates with a PhD or postgraduate degree in a related field of engineering and technology (MTech, MSc, or MS) are also eligible to apply.

This innovative curriculum represents IIT Bombay’s commitment to electric vehicle education in India, preparing professionals to meet the challenges of an increasingly technology-driven world, the statement added.
