The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has established a ten-member committee comprising psychologists, legal and police professionals, educationists, counsellors, and alumni, in a move to evaluate the mental well-being of its campus community.

The committee’s job is to evaluate the various factors—primary, secondary, or tertiary—and their effects on staff, faculty, and students’ mental health. It will also pinpoint obstacles that could prevent mental health concerns on campus from being resolved, like a lack of resources, administrative shortcomings, and academic demands.

In order to suggest actions that can improve the institute’s mental health ecology, the committee intends to collect thorough inputs from all stakeholders, according to an official release. The committee has three months to turn in its report.

The focus on mental health coincides with a period of substantial change in the admissions procedures at IITs. For example, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) remains a crucial entry point for postgraduate admissions; applicants with scores below 200 are usually given consideration for admission to the best IITs. However, there are also chances for people with lower positions to use fellowships to further their education.

Additionally, the Supreme Court has maintained the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility regulation, highlighting the significance of academic autonomy. According to a previous ruling by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) last year, the court denied a plea that sought to permit students who passed their Class 12 examinations in 2023 to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.

Using the application number and password, the JEE Advanced 2025 admit cards will be accessible for download on jeeadv.ac.in starting at 10 a.m. on May 12, 2025. Paper 1 will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 18, 2025, and Paper 2 will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to enter their testing locations, candidates must bring a printed copy of their admit card and a legitimate government-issued photo ID.

The test will only be administered as a computer-based test (CBT). Paper 1 and Paper 2, both lasting three hours, will make up the two papers. For both papers, candidates must show up. The three sections of each paper will be mathematics, chemistry, and physics.
