The Indian Institute of Mass Communication will launch a PhD in mass communication and journalism from the coming academic year. “We have notified the rules for the PhD program, and we intend to launch the program from the coming academic year. It is a great responsibility and we are ready for it,” Anupama Bhatnagar, Vice Chancellor of the IIMC, said.

“IIMC aspires to lead the way in media, journalism, and communication research. We are excited and pleased to contribute to the advancement of scientific research in this field,” stated Nimish Rustagi, Registrar at IIMC.

According to Rustagi, the specifics of the admissions procedure would be revealed when the time comes. Since its founding in 1965, the IIMC has broadened its scope of academic offerings and now offers a variety of specialized courses to satisfy the demand for skilled labor in the quickly growing media and communication sector.

According to a government official, the Institute has strengthened its academic and training ecosystem by implementing a number of initiatives, including an investment of over Rs 200 crore in infrastructural development.

According to IIMC Registrar Nimish Rustagi, the institute has also introduced new programs, updated its facilities, and accomplished noteworthy milestones in media education and training.

He added that the institute, which has been declared a ‘Deemed to be University’, launched two MA programmes – Media Business Studies and Strategic Communication – in August with an intake of 80 students.
