US and Indian colleges aims to collaborate more in AI and tech

US colleges are attempting to deepen their relationships with their Indian counterparts, mostly concentrating on important fields such as technology, healthcare, and artificial intelligence. The Association of American Universities established United States-India University Partnerships, and the Task Force is dedicated to growing these relationships.

The task committee was formed in April 2023 and has met regularly to explore issues related to advancing scientific research and bolstering higher education. One of the report’s primary themes is the need to increase research collaboration and exchanges. Additionally, increasing internships and apprenticeships is the goal.

Additionally, research cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in the healthcare industry is anticipated between the US and India. Additionally, semiconductors are a major topic of discussion in these talks. The task team was established in accordance with Biden’s administration last year. Expanding economic and technical collaboration between the US and India was the primary goal.

The Indian School of Business, Mahindra University, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, IIT Hyderabad, and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management will all be visited by US consulates and IIE delegations. IIE said that among the subjects up for consideration would be the establishment of an international branch campus in India.

Approximately 70 universities are conducting large-scale research, as opposed to India’s small-scale system, according to reports. Currently, India spends just 0.7% of its GDP on R&D. Nonetheless, AAU’s participation will strengthen academic research in India. In the academic year 2022–2023 more than 265,000 Indian students traveled to the US to seek higher education. Of the one million international students studying in the US, 25% are Indian students.
