US To Attract 2.8 Million International Students By 2034

A recent report by the worldwide research firm HolonIQ suggests that by 2034, there might be between 1.3 million and 2.8 million international students studying in the United States.

According to Erudera, there are currently 1,057,188 international students studying in the US, representing more than 210 nations.

By 2030, the US is anticipated to welcome over 1.5 million international students, solidifying its status as the top destination for academics from around the globe, according to HolonIQ’s forecasts. “With a coordinated national strategy, the US has the potential to attract an additional 300,000 students,” said analysts. Among the many prerequisites for this expansion are the establishment of welcoming policies and geopolitical stability.

By 2034, India is expected to overtake China as the country from which the majority of foreign students to the US come. Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Vietnam are anticipated to become into significant producers as well. China is the country from which the majority of international students studying in the United States come, with 289,526 students, according to the Open Doors report published by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs last year.

The analysis by HolonIQ, however, indicates that this trend may be changing, estimating that by 2030, there would be roughly 500,000 more Indian students than Chinese students. Vietnam, Nigeria, and Bangladesh are other important sources, and it is expected that the populations of South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia would gradually shrink.

The substantial rise in Indian graduate students—which increased by 63 percent to 165,936 students last year—is highlighted in Erudera’s reports. With this achievement, India surpassed all other countries as the top source of international graduate students to the US for the first time since the 2009–10 school year. In recognizing the efforts of Indian students and their families, US Ambassador Eric Garcetti applauded this accomplishment.

Around 474,000 Indian students will study in the US by 2034, according to HolonIQ. After them are 339,000 Chinese, 36,000 South Koreans, 34,000 Vietnamese, 31,000 Nigerians, and 29,000 Bangladeshis. Higher education is predicted to grow on a worldwide scale as well; by 2030, there will be 9 million students studying abroad, up from the present 6 million.
