IIM Calcutta releases CAT 2024 notification; registration from August 1
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta today released the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 notification. The notification has been released in newspapers and on IIM Calcutta’s official LinkedIn account.
CAT 2024 will be a computer-based test which will be held on November 24 in three sessions. CAT will be conducted in test centres spread across around 170 test cities. Candidates will be given the option to select any five test cities in order of their preference. The list of cities may be subject to changes based on the discretion of the CAT authorities.
The registration process for CAT 2024 will begin at 10 am on August 1 and conclude at 3 pm on September 13. The registration window will be available at the official IIM CAT website — iimcat.ac.in. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number throughout the selection process.
Once the registration process is completed, IIM Calcutta will release admit cards between November 5 and 24. After the exam in November, the result for CAT 2024 is expected to be released in the second week of January 2025.
The registration fee is Rs 1250 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates. It is Rs 2500 for all other categories of candidates.
Students should note that a candidate needs to pay the registration fees only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Last year, the exam calendar was released on August 2 and the exam was conducted on November 26 for which a total of 3.28 lakh candidates registered out of which approximately 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.
CAT is a prerequisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programmes of IIMs. CAT scores are allowed to be used by listed non-IIM member institutions. A list of such institutions is provided on the CAT website. IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions. Last year, a total of 91 non-IIM institutions also used the CAT score scores to grant admission to aspirants into various management programmes.
While IIM institutions seeking admission through CAT score were — IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bangalore, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Mumbai, IIM Nagpur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Visakhapatnam.
