Social media platforms have become integral parts of our daily lives. They make it possible for us to communicate, exchange stories, and obtain information instantly. But these platforms also have significant effects on our mental health. Spending too much time on social media can, ironically, increase feelings of loneliness and isolation and aggravate mental health issues like melancholia and anxiety.

 Virtual interaction on social media can still be very beneficial to your physical and mental health and help you stay connected, even though it doesn’t offer the same psychological benefits as face-to-face interaction.

  • Access to Information: Students can find resources on mental health, coping strategies, and wellness tips. Awareness campaigns on platforms like Instagram and TikTok can promote mental health literacy.

 

  • Self-Expression: Social media allows students to express themselves creatively and share their experiences, which can be therapeutic.

The Cons of Social Media 

Many of the advantages of social media keep people returning to its many platforms. If you use social media regularly, there are still some serious drawbacks to be aware of.
