IIM-Kozhikode Launches Professional Certificate Programme in Applied Finance

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, in partnership with global education provider Emeritus, has launched a Professional Certificate Programme in Applied Finance. The initiative aims to meet the increasing demand for professionals with applied financial skills, as financial markets evolve and fintech adoption continues to grow. The course is scheduled to begin on June 28, 2025.

India is one of the fastest-growing digital financial marketplaces, with over 2,100 fintech companies operating at the moment, according to data from the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF). Professionals with advanced finance training are in high demand due to the growth of internet and mobile infrastructure as well as the complexity of financial decision-making.

Programme focus and objectives

The program’s goal is to get individuals ready for analytical and strategic roles in the financial industry. Participants are required to gain expertise in assessing investment opportunities, controlling risk, and coordinating financial decisions with business strategy, since their duties in the finance sector extend beyond compliance and reporting.

Financial topics that are directly applicable to real-world situations are covered in the curriculum, including applying valuation models, constructing capital plans, and analyzing financial data.

Course-work and curriculum

Faculty members from IIM Kozhikode and industry guests will present the course via live online sessions. The program’s combination of theory and practice, which is spread throughout ten organized modules, is a crucial element. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with peers and teachers during a two-day on-campus immersion at IIM Kozhikode.

-Strategic financial decision-making and corporate finance

-Restructuring, acquisitions, and mergers

-Risk management techniques and instruments

-Asset allocation and portfolio theory

– Financial modeling and valuation methods

-Digital finance and changing company structures

Sessions will incorporate activity-based learning, practical assignments, and interactive discussions aimed at reinforcing applied skills.

Who can apply for the course?

Working professionals with at least three years of experience are the program’s target audience. People from a wide range of positions in finance and related fields are eligible, including:

-Managers and analysts of finance

-Experts with backgrounds in accounting, business, and consulting

–Chartered accountants, cost accountants, and professionals in broking and securities

–Managers in cross-functional or non-finance roles seeking financial literacy for decision-making

Eligibility criteria includes

–Minimum educational qualification: Graduate or diploma holder (10+2+3 format)

–Minimum 3 years of full-time work experience

Programme fees and certification

The total programme fee is Rs 2,37,500 plus applicable GST. Upon successful completion of all requirements, participants will receive a verified digital certificate issued by IIM Kozhikode. In addition, they will be granted Executive Alumni status from the institute, providing access to IIMK’s professional network.
